The Denis Zaglas Memorial Race has been run and won at the Alice Springs Off Road Club’s Mt Ooraminna circuit Print E-mail

Locky & Paddy Weir #155 topped the time sheets, their ProLite machine crossing the line in 57m44s, just 6seconds ahead of second placed Steven Sanderson Extreme 2WD #401 – 57m50s. The Jaws Racing team won its class in the Australian Off Road Championship., well done.

Brett Taylor #31 rounded out the 2015 Denis Zaglas Memorial Race podium with a time of 58m37s. Brett had a few navigators over the weekend. Emma had the ride of her life & loved it.

Wayne Sanderson #47 slotted into fourth outright and second in Pro class with a time of 1h06m31s ahead of fifth placed Clayton Bestmann also securing second in Extreme 2WD class with his time of 1h15m311s.

Wayne (Sambo) Sanderson had  his first drive for about 8 years  in the Sporties 12 Hour, this was his first full race weekend, good to see him back in the seat.

With little to nothing separating Clayton Bestmann from Darren Wright’s #281 Super1650, Wright clocked in a time of 1h15m319s, just 0.008 seconds behind Bestmann.

Seventh place and the last team to be classified finishers was the #505 Performance 2WD machine of Rod Berry in a total time of 1h36m 13s.

Seven of the 12 starters completed full race distance.

Dylan Blake suffered fuel problems and a loss of a rear wheel in his #450 Extreme 2WD, this machine will have Aus 403 on the truck next year.

Paul Hienzel #125 broke a front stub axel on his ProLite buggy.

Jason Neaty’s Polaris had muffler and gearbox issues, Rich Schembri #50 had front suspension problems and power steering failure, it got a bit heavy to turn.

Damian Aspinall bent an upper control arm in the #425 machine. A big drive down from Darwin for this team.

Young Josh Aspinall had a drive of the #425 machine as well.
